The Founder


António Costa

António Costa, the founder of Mindful Living, has a remarkable 25-year journey in the banking sector, one of society's most competitive markets.

During this period, António not only worked in management areas but also dedicated himself to the passionate study of human behavior. In the year 2000, this passion led him to formally deepen his knowledge in the field, which culminated in a transformative decision in 2017: he decided to make a radical career change, dedicating himself entirely to teaching and practicing mindfulness.

Since then, he has applied his knowledge to help individuals, businesses, and educational institutions live more consciously and balanced lives.

Curriculum note
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the Faculty of Psychology and Life Sciences (EPCV) of Universidade Lusófona.
  • Postgraduate degree in Prospective Innovation, Strategy (ISEG).
  • Several trainings in the area of emotional intelligence: Cognitive Neuroscience Applied to People Management, Innovation and Strategy - NeuroManagement; Training in Emotional Intelligence in Team Leadership - Development Systems; Family Constellations Facilitator; Louise Hay Method, Psychosynthesis.

  • Training as a Mindfulness Qualified Teacher (MBSR) by the UCSD Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute - University of California (School of Medicine), with the Director Founder and Senior Professor of the San Diego Center at the University of California, Steve Hickman, Psy.D., mentoring in 25 sessions.
  • Participation in the Mindfulness Teacher Retreat - Silence and Good Practices - Marrion Furr (Mindfulness Center at Oxford College). Training in Mindfulness in the Program "Finding Peace in a Frantic World" - by professors Marrion Furr and Chris Cullen from the University of Oxford UK: Oxford College Mindfulness Center.
  • Participation in the 5-day Silent Retreat "Deepening our Experience of Mindfulness" guided by Professor Dh. Karunavira from Bangor University - School of Psychology.
  • Advanced training in Mindfulness Teacher designated as "Advanced Teacher Training Intensive - Growing Into the Heart of Teaching MBSR - Dharma, Embodiment, and the Refinement of Intention", by Professor Beth Mulligan from the University of California, UC San Diego Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute.
  • Specialized training in education in "Be Mindful, Teach Mindfully, Teach Mindfulness" by the MindWell Institute, with professors Kevin Hawkins and Amy Burke, and "MindSerena Adventure" - Socioemotional Skills Program, by MindSerena.

  • Mindfulness: cognitive behavioral training with success in the business world, aimed at reducing stress and anxiety, resilience, focus, reducing conflicts and dissatisfaction and increasing compassion.
  • Team Building: group activities aimed at meeting specific company needs.
  • Yoga: an ancient practice that integrates body, mind and breath through postures, meditation and control of vital energy. Its aim is to promote inner balance, well-being and full awareness.
  • Sound Journey: an immersive relaxation experience in which therapeutic sounds - such as Tibetan bowls, gongs, drums and harmonic instruments - are used to induce deep relaxation, meditation and emotional balance. The sound vibrations act on the body and mind, promoting well-being and expanded states of consciousness.
  • Coaching: a development process focused on enhancing skills and strategies to achieve professional and organizational goals. It promotes self-knowledge, effective leadership and high performance in business.
  • Point's of View: a human development methodology that uses cards with images and words to stimulate different points of view, broaden perception and promote deep and creative reflections.
  • Inconscious Bias: automatic judgments and attitudes that influence our decisions without us realizing it, based on stereotypes, past experiences or culture. These biases affect hiring, evaluations and interactions, and can generate injustices even without conscious intention.

A practical example of unconscious bias in the corporate environment is when a manager, when reviewing CVs, tends to choose candidates with names that are more “familiar” or similar to his own, without realizing that he is excluding diverse talent.
